Thank you for trying LowPro 1.02. LowPro is a freight
management program for wholesalers and manufacturers.
Ever wonder what is the cheapest way to send a shipment?
Which trucking company or courier to call? Which company
services which cities? LowPro is here to help! LowPro is
for businesses that ship to many different towns or cities
and need an efficient way to choose the least expensive
carrier for each shipment.
LowPro uses the carriers, destinations, and rates that apply
to your business. Once you have some carrier data, LowPro
can start finding the least expensive carrier for each
shipment and generate appropriate reports.
IMPORTANT
1. LowPro requires a VGA color monitor.
2. LowPro is shareware. Shareware is "try before you buy"
software. If you find LowPro to be useful, support the
shareware concept by registering. LowPro costs $49.00
(U.S. currency) per site and a manual is sent out with every
order. You will also receive the latest version, product
support and news of enhancements. To register, simply choose
3 in the Main Menu to print an invoice (have your P.O.#
ready).
The shareware version of LowPro is fully functional. You are
free to distribute this product to others. You are not
permitted to disassemble, de-compile, reverse engineer, or
otherwise tamper with this program.
Send the invoice you create in LowPro and $49.00 to:

OVERVIEW
LowPro consists of two modules: Carriers and Shipments.
In Carriers, you enter carriers, destinations and rates
(Carrier Records).
Carriers allows you to add, edit, delete, and print out
Carrier Records. The Edit and Delete menus will prompt you
for a Record Number. If you press Enter at this point, the
last record will be displayed. Print out a report to get a
full listing of carriers. You can print by Record Number,
Destination, or Carrier Name.
Once you have some carrier data, you can enter shipments.
Shipments allows you to add, edit, delete, print, and screen
inquire shipment information.
In Shipments, you enter Reference Numbers, Destinations, and
shipping Weights. Then use LowPro to print out a list of all
eligible carriers for each shipment. Your shipping
department can then call the lowest cost carrier for each
shipment, or a preferred carrier if desired.
Shipments offers Preview Windows to reduce keystrokes and
ensure accuracy.
Example: when keying in a destination, the nearest match is
displayed in the Preview Window. When you have keyed in
enough characters to display the desired destination in the
Preview Window simply press ENTER to accept that destination.
The Preview Window works for Reference Numbers as well.
A screen inquiry feature provides quick answers for your last
minute shipments.

CARRIERS
1. Add Carriers allows data for the following fields:
Record Number
Is assigned by LowPro.
Carrier Name
Key in the name of the trucking company or courier (21
characters).
Destination
Key in the name of the town or city. (17 characters)
Weight Range
Key in the minimum and maximum weights for a given rate (0-
9999)
Freight Rate
Key in the rate. If you key in "35", LowPro assumes $35.00.
If you key in "35.5" LowPro assumes $35.50. (0-9999.99)
Factor
This is multiplied by the Freight Rate. If you have received
notice of say, a 3.2% increase in rates, you would key in
1.032. (Of course, you could calculate the new rate by
multiplying the old rate by 1.032 yourself and updating the
Freight Rate). (0-99.999). Default is 1.000 . Note: numbers
smaller than 1.000 such as .975 are legal also.
Interlining
Use this field for any Advance/Beyond charges, as well as
insurance, and any other extras. (0-999.99) Default is zero.
2. Edit Carriers
Use Edit Carriers to view/modify any record. You will be
prompted for a Record Number. If you press Enter, the last
record entered will be displayed. Press Enter or Tab to skip
to the next field. Standard editing keys are Left Arrow,
Right Arrow, Insert, Backspace, Home, End, and Delete.
3. Delete Carriers
Carriers are deleted by Record Number. Default is the last
record entered. Note: when you delete a record, it is
swapped with the last record in the Carrier file and
then dropped from the file.
4. Print Reports
Carrier records can be printed by Carrier Name, Destination,
or Record Number. All reports fit onto 8 1/2 x 11" computer
paper.
SHIPMENTS
Shipments features Preview Windows. A Preview Window has two
purposes:
i). to reduce keystrokes
ii). to reduce data entry errors
Whenever you start to key in a Reference Number or a
Destination, the Preview Window will display the nearest
match. When you have keyed in enough characters to display
the correct item, press ENTER to accept that item.
1. Add Shipments
Reference Number
You can use any UNIQUE number, such as a Bill of Lading
number, picking slip number, packing ticket number, etc.
It's O.K. to mix letters with numbers too. (17 characters).
Use Screen Inquiry if you do not have a unique reference
number available, or if you do not wish to save the shipment
data.
Destination
As you key in the letters of the Destination, the Preview
Window will show you the nearest match. Once you see the
correct Destination displayed, press ENTER to accept that
destination. (21 characters). If you do not get a match, you
either:
- Do not have that destination in Carriers
- Forgot to capitalize the first letter of the destination
name.
Weight
Key in the weight of the shipment. (0 - 9999).
Factor (optional)
Use this if your shipment attracts a surcharge over the
normal rate. For example, if you are charged extra for
oversized cartons you can use this field. LowPro multiplies
the shipping Weight by the Ship Factor for reporting
purposes. (Default is 1.000, range is 0 - 99.999).
Comments (optional)
Use this field for any special instructions that your
shipping department may require. (12 characters).
2. Edit Shipments
Use to view/modify shipment records. You will be
prompted for a Reference Number. Start keying and press
ENTER when the correct Reference Number is displayed in the
Preview Window. Default is the last shipment entered.
If you wish to change the Destination field, the Preview
Window will Preview the nearest match here also. Note: if
you try to enter a destination that is not in Carriers,
LowPro will use the last valid destination entered.
Again, standard editing keys can be used to make corrections
to any fields.
3. Delete Shipments
Shipments can be deleted by range, or individually. There
are Preview Windows here also, so you know when you have
keyed in legitimate Reference Numbers.
4. Print Reports
i). Print To Printer
You can print out a list of shipments that are matched to
eligible carriers. Reports can be printed by Destination, or
by Reference Number. All print-outs fit on 8 1/2 x 11"
computer paper.
ii). Print To Screen
Use this feature for a screen display of eligible carriers
for a given shipment. You key in a destination (there is a
Preview Window here also) a weight, and a factor if
necessary. Press ENTER, and LowPro will display the three
least expensive eligible carriers (if there are three or
more eligible carriers). If there is no eligible carrier in
the database, LowPro displays "No Match Found". Note that no
information is saved when using the Print To Screen feature.
TROUBLE - SHOOTING
Problem: Printer is printing nonsense characters.
- verify that the data is intact by looking at the data in
Edit. If the data is O.K., then turn off the printer and
turn it on again to clear the printer buffer.
Problem: Required destination will not Preview.
- you either do not have that information in Carriers or
- you forgot to capitalize the first letter of the
destination
Problem: Running LowPro produces error message "Sorry LowPro
requires a VGA color monitor".
- the monitor you are using is not compatible with LowPro.
Problem: Shipments report shows some records with "No Match
Found"
- Carriers does not have a carrier for that weight and
destination.
ENHANCEMENTS
Feel free to request enhancements. Enhancements may be
available at no charge if they can be added to future
versions of LowPro.
